ZACH, all my students should have access to this site... Maybe Jessica may not, but just have her register if she needs to.  Every one should do Lesson 3 (where Jessica may want to look at lesson 1 and 2.  All students should have headphones to quietly listen to the lessons, and then do the labs.  If you know anything about Python, you can help them) 
  • 12:45 - 1:25 - Python Level 3 (3.1 - 3.9 lessons) from Try Python 
    • Spend 30-40 min really learning these lessons on Conditional structures
    • If You have not done fir level 1 or 2, please start there. 
    • Do the work in the lessons, but ALSO open your Cygwin and try it out there too...

 ZACH, all my students are in one of 4 teams, (except for Kenneth) and should work on updating their slides.  They should be able to talk and walk around... but keep them focused on their slides)

ZACH, this should be fun.... All my Students are working on a Robotics project.  I tried to make sure they had what they needed, but I will put some items on the cart by my desk, which they can use.  I'm going to have my Office and supply room closed, and you should not get anything out of there.  It may seem a bit chaotic, but they should all have a "do List"... Please walk around and have them explain what they are doing... and if you see students wasting time, get them back on track.  Ask them to think about any NEXT steps.  All robot teams should submit a blog entry of what they did.  They know how to do this.

for my class this is open lab time, with some teams working on specific projects.  As long as they are researching, working on hardware or watching an Instructables or other tech related online class they can be considered "working")

  • At 2:15, please get on the radio say the following on Channel 2 on the radio... "All Teachers, All Classes, it's 2:15 on Thursday, so that means it time for Robot Club.  Please send your students in good standing that are interested in Robotics to Room 709."
  • There may be 3-4 students from other classes show up.  Have them integrate into the "team" in my class.

Jan 12th, 2018 - What? More Python?

    • Start here http://linuxcommand.org/lc3_lts0010.php  Read this page about a Linux 'Shell'... then click "next" at the bottom of the page
    • open a Google Doc and Take some screen shots of what you did on each page while using Cygwin and doing the labs and examples in the link

Jan 11th, 2018 - Reach out to your Professional Network

Entrance Ticket - Reach out to your Professional Network.  

  • (Tom, please have students get together in their "flex Factor teams", and discuss a few questions they "would ask an expert".  They then will research on LinkedIn to find some one to ask the question.  Please make sure students are focused on their slide presentation and discussing the Technology they are developing.  You should walk around and have each team tell you what their project is and what technology they are researching)
  • Read this presentation about 4 Ways to Use Social Networks
    • In an IC Assignment (or save in a Google Doc to turn in later if you have IC issues)   - Answer the following question. 25-50 words per question
      • Other than LinkedIn, In your opinion, which other "Social Network would be the best to connect with a company?  Why?  What makes that Social Network work?
      • How can you do "Research" using a social network?
    • Think of a Problem or Question you are still trying to solve or answer, for either your Flex Factor Presentation, your Arduino Engineering project, or any other class project.
      • Write the introduction and question down and find some one on LinkedIn who might be able to answer the question... connect with them and ask the question.
        • Submit your Introduction and Question to IC, 
        • And then send it to the person on LinkedIn  
        • REMEMBER you only have one chance to make a first impression, so think about your introduction and question.  
          • Make it concise, and well structured.  
          • Introduce your self, tell them you are a student at SVCTE, that it is a public High School, 
          • and you are in a Mechatronics Engineering class.  
          • Tell them about your project and why you are contacting them (why you think they can help you)
          • Then Ask your question
